At Swayam, we believe mental health is more than the absence of illness.
It is the presence of dignity.
Of belonging.
Of care that sees the full story of a life — not just its symptoms.
Mental health lives in our homes, our classrooms, our bodies, our histories.
It breathes through culture, caste, gender, caregiving, loss, and resilience.
It carries the silent weight of systems — and the fierce hope of communities.
We founded Swayam Foundation in 2015 to create a different kind of ecosystem — one where mental health care is not an afterthought, but an act of everyday courage.
We work in three interconnected ways:
-
Training and Mental Health Education: Equipping professionals, caregivers, and community leaders with trauma-informed, culturally-rooted skills.
-
Support Groups and Community Care: Building psychosocial support systems where people can grieve, heal, listen, share and connect deeply.
-
Media Advocacy and Storytelling: Changing the narrative around mental health through lived experiences, community voices, and real stories.
We are creating cultures of care —
where resilience is not demanded from individuals, but nurtured by communities.
Where healing is not rushed, erased, or silenced.
Where every story matters.
At Swayam, we know that true change does not come only through therapy rooms or policy tables.
It grows from the ground up — in conversations, in trainings, in shared spaces of grief, learning, laughter, and hope.
We are here to walk alongside individuals and communities who believe that healing must be just, inclusive, and real.
If you believe in care that sees the whole person and the whole system — you are already part of our story.
And here’s how YOU CAN BE PART OF THE MOVEMENT…
